Cloud Storage - What Is It?

August 4, 2017

Have you ever heard about the ‘cloud’? Or probably overheard someone saying ‘I’m gonna store my data on the cloud, it’s much better’? Well gone are the days when individuals hackle themselves and constantly worry about their data and where to keep them safe. Technology is ever changing and in this era there are constant developments made by companies and developers to have a more effortless yet seamless data backup and safety in a form know as cloud storage.

Think of it this way…as an online hard drive that you can readily access from basically any location in the world, without actually having to carry it around with you. Now you might be wondering, how is this even possible? Well to access your data you would need to have an internet connection so that you can log into your cloud account. It’s that simple. Usually in order to obtain or start using cloud storage you’d have to either sign up for a certain type of membership and have your data secured and saved for a certain period of time based on the option(s) that you select. Your membership would also determine the amount of cloud storage space that you get in order to store data on your cloud account.

There are tons of individuals who use our cloud data on a daily basis and a lot of organizations as well. It is said to be safer, faster at times and most importantly it’s very much convenient. You can easily access your data from anywhere in the world with the click of a button. Cloud storage even allows you to work online; say for instance you are editing a word document, all your changes are saved online as you move a long and type or edit. You can even have multiple persons editing a document at once; this way you can be working with the peace of mind of not having to worry about data loss or a power outage if you are on a desktop machine for instance.

As technology continues to improve, more and more files and data are being created and it also gets much easier for you to register for cloud services so that your data and files can be protected from viruses and other unforeseen threats such as data loss. With no doubt, there can be a fire at any time or even a natural disaster and your saved files and important documents on your PC or hard drive can easily get lost, corrupted or stolen; this is where the experts at cloud storage are very much effective and convenient. If you store your data on the cloud, there’s no need to worry about natural disasters or theft and so on. You’re data is always safe and will be there when you need it.
